At the time in my life when I thought my love life was over, I traveled to Italy and fell for a much younger man. What should only have been a one-night-stand continues much to the indignation of my grown children and friends. From Lucca to San Francisco our romance sizzles with excitement and drama.
Taking a Chance on Love eBook Jacqueline Harmon Butler
Taking a Chance on Love was a terrific travel/food/romance book that really happened and yet read like a novel. The imagery was magnificent with the descriptions of places in Italy and the foods that Jacqueline and her friends ate made me really feel as if I was actually there. I liked that this story was about a woman in her 50's (since I am too); Jacqueline having a much younger lover just made the story more interesting. My only real criticism of this story was her use of Italian. Some of the words and phrases were not translated when they should have been (like for the names of food dishes), and sometimes the words/phrases used seemed gratuitous. Both ways of using the foreign language interrupted the flow of the story. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed reading this memoir and I would definitely recommend it to others.Product details

Taking a Chance on Love eBook Jacqueline Harmon Butler Reviews
I have to give full disclosure here in that I know Jacqueline Butler, having met her in a San Francisco Tarot group 34 years ago. I was there when she came back from one of her trips to Italy all aglow with a story that sounded exactly out of a corny romance novel. So I heard about "Marco" - named changed to protect the innocent - from day one. I also knew some of the other characters mentioned in the book. Some have real names others have been changed. Since I know the author and know that this story is a true romance, without the "happy ending," I can't be totally objective. It is still a happy story. What I enjoyed that was new for me, were all the details of the beautiful Italy scenes.
The "romance" continues - when Jacqueline recently told me that "Marco" wanted her ashes to be sent to him when she was gone, I thought, puuuleeese - is this another corny Romance Novel plot! No it is all TRUE. So read the book and become inspired.

if your interested in the menus served in Italy, then this is a good read, if not then you may want to pass.
Easy entertainment reading. Makes you realize that live at all ages can have reasons and pleasures in store
for you.
Book was great, true love story
I really enjoyed reading this book because I could relate to an older woman having fun with a younger man! Why not!! And Marco was a very caring person. I loved reading all the details about the Italian countryside, the wonderful meals described in the book, and of course the romance story. It takes an exceptional woman to go through a journey like this and come out with a positive experience to add to her life experiences overall. Right on for love and life.
Whatcan I say. .......we didn't love the book but didn't hate it either
Taking A Chance on Love is a love story between a 50 year old American woman and a 30 something year old Italian stud named Marco. Their story spans through years of their up and down roller coaster romance. Marco is truly an Italian player! But I can see how Jacqueline was reeled in by his charm! It's a great read that takes you right in the middle of Italy! Lots of discussion on Italian food! The story is very plausible, not a boring sappy, fairy tale romance. I highly recommend it!
