The book started off great. I usually love the fantasy plot in which the story starts in the modern world but somehow our hero gets pulled into the story's main setting. However, as I continued to read, I had a felling of Deja Vu, thinking that I've read this story before. It felt like I was reading a Star Wars story in which the Jedi knights were betrayed at the top level of leadership. But to be fair, i didn't get past this point because I couldn't wrap my head around how Eduardo became some politically powerful. I wasn't able to read the book past the great betrayer. It probably got better but it was ruined for me. However I agree with one of the other reviewers that the author is a decent writer but need to connect his plots better. Also stop the overuse on the cliches.Tags : Realmborn - Kindle edition by Dave Eastman. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or tablets. Realmborn eBook Dave Eastman Reviews
This story was told very well. Usually these types of stories end up lacking, but not this one. Job well done! Can't wait for the next one.
A good solid read... well worth your time and a bargain at the price. I will purchase the second installment. Well done Mr. Eastman, now get busy writing and don't give us the typical second book! Wow us!
I bought this book on the strength of the reviews and I am happy I did. Characters that are well developed, whether it is the hero or the protagonists. I strongly recommend this book to anyone that likes magic, good vs. evil or a main character with a sarcastic wit. Well done Dave Eastman. I hope you are busy writing the sequel.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.. Have never read one that had humour and action and good old fashion emotion . It was so well done. Hats off to author.
This book is everything anyone would want in a tale of love, heroics and humanity. If you only read one book this month, make sure it is this one.
I'm glad Jake had a strong character arc that allowed him to change as the story went on. I wonder what you have in store for the next adventure of Jake and Rayne the two cousins who seem to be almost unbeatable together and forging a strong bond after such a short time together.
Like some of the other reviewers, I really wanted to like this book. From the description, all of the pieces were there for something I really enjoy - a man from our world, transported and trapped in a fantasy setting where he has to adjust to a whole new set of rules about what he and those around him can do with magic. Problem is, in this case the author's reach has exceeded his grasp. He's a good writer, crafting well put-together sentences and chapters, but it's in the storytelling that things fall apart. The characters are all, without exception, terribly cliche and one-dimensional. The good guys are true and pure, the bad guys are rotten to the core. Especially in the case of the main character and his adversary is this true. The main character very briefly wants nothing more than to get home, but very quickly he's won over by the nobility of the cause and by the end of the story he makes a decision that left me shaking my head. With the adversary you got to read a little bit about how he got the way he was, but there were so many opportunities missed to turn the character into something more than he was. Ultimately, I finished the book because I kept hoping it would turn around, but it wasn't to be. If this kind of story is something that appeals to you, I'd suggest you try Christopher Stasheff's A Wizard In Rhyme or Warlock of Gramarye series.
