4.5 stars - I loved Tank in the first book and it touched on Finn - but this book was all Finn in his own revenge thought filled adventures.

Finn BlueCollar Billionaires #2 eBook M Malone Reviews

I didn't dislike this book, but I didn't quite adore Finn the way I liked his brother. Mostly, I think, because his initial need to tear Marissa's life down was hard for me to wrap my head around. I get that he was hurting and the issues he was dealing with made him a little unpredictable at times, but...I don't know. The whole revenge thing was a wee bit off-putting.

And Rissa. YIKES. She made some bad choices before, but she's spent the last little bit trying to put her life back together and get out from under the shadow of her past. Probably the only thing that made me slide back into thinking Finn would be worthy of her was how quickly he abandoned his original plan once he saw her again.

That said, I did like Finn. He's messed up and he chooses a path that isn't exactly honorable, but a teeny part of me gets why he felt like he needed to do it. Other than his plan for Rissa, his actions showed him to have a big heart and a great capacity for caring. So, yeah, I liked him.

The brothers (all the brothers, not just Tank and Finn) still look to have A LOT of issues to work out between them. With three more to go, I have plenty to look forward to.

For the most part, I really enjoyed this book. The sex and sensual scenes are pretty great. The characters are engaging. There are a few problems I had with it, though.
(1). I know pain medicine addiction is a real problem for many people, but I feel like the way the author handled the subject, it makes a judgment on people who legitimately suffer from chronic pain and need and properly take pain medication (as opposed to those who are abusing and/or addicted to it). It is a little frustrating that the only option the author seems to leave is to be rid of medication completely, and that those who suffer from serious pain always have that option. That is, sadly, a misconception and is not the case for many people who suffer.
(2). There wasn't as much of an explanation as to what happened in the characters' past (back stories) in between their first and most recent times together.
(3). Parts were just a little too cliche. While I love the happy endings, in both of these books, the recurring statements of "you're mine," "you belong to me," "I will protect you," "forever and always," plus an engagement ring are present. I'd have liked to see a little more originality.
It's a fun read, though, and some of the humor is great!
This book did not disappoint. M Malone creates wonderful HEA stories. This story about Finn, an ex military guy, who is still very hurt that his one true love didn't stand by him like she should is so true for a lot of people. It represented true human nature for a lot of us who initially are so hurt from a relationship that we want revenge. In this case, he still loves her so he was able to quickly abandon his desire for revenge and make himself a better man so he would deserve Rissa. Great story! Can't wait for the next one.
I liked this book description when I read it. I still think the idea of the poor guy that lost his first love to a rich man, then getting revenge on her is a good one. This book had potential for me but it fell short.
There were holes that I felt weren't filled.
My biggest one was Andrew, the rich man that stole Rissa from Finn. We know nothing about him except that he abused Rissa.
Where did he come from? How did he lure her away? What was his profession? How did they live , and most importantly, what caused Rissa to finally leave. His character is under developed. We have nothing in his POV that shows what he's thinking. He was in her house once, called/texted a couple times, then came to her door. That's it. If we saw why Rissa left, this would have been a lot more satisfying for me.
I liked Finn and Rissa's characters. I think Finn caved a little too early for my taste, but he was still so much in love. He just couldn't fight it any longer.
Rissa paid a very steep price for leaving Finn. Once he was back she fell right back in. Totally understandable.
I would have liked to see this book close out all the characters.
Where do Finn and Rissa go next? Does Claire recover? What does Rissa do with her building, what happened up Daphne & Tara?
I don't think I'm pursuing this series. This story was ok, but not my idea of a really good book.
My biggest complaint about this novel is that the author didn't seem to have her story straight when she wrote it. I won't give away the endings because I never got there, but the story seems to be as follows Man wants revenge on woman that left him for a rich man now that he is a billionaire. so he hires her company to clean his house, provided she does the work while he sits in the kitchen eating cereal. He doesn't realize that she is divorced or separated from her husband even though he was able to find out everything else about her. Apparently he thinks well to do wives often start their own cleaning companies. And the company has been a success from the start! except they are broke and desperate for money so they sign the contract with him. And on and on. And this incoherent mess has maybe 80 5 star reviews! I thought I was avoiding bad novels by eliminating books with 20 or fewer reviews, but no such luck.
